Superbowl contenders in 2009-2010?
Here are my 4 superbowl favorites IN MY OPINION for the 2009-2010 nfl season. please respond and i will explain why teams from last year aren't my favorites. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING
New York Giants-
This team is like a puzzle and in the draft they found their last piece in a wide reciever by getting an anquan boldin clone in hakeem nicks and a big marques colston like player in the 6'6 Ramses Barden. They also got a project at left tackle in william beatty. getting clint sintim and michael boley this offseason doesn't hurt because they both fill their needs at OLB and can also play DE on third downs. They are extremely deep on the defensive line with like 8-9 quality starters including 3 upper tier players in tuck, umenyiora, and maybe robbins. They have leadership, team chemistry, and great coaching. TELL ME THATS NOT GOOD.
Tennessee Titans
Losing fat albert doesn't fuckin matter and anyone who thinks that doesn't know about the game of football at all. losing a DT who only played well during his contract year and who spends 50% of the game lifting water cups on the sidelines doesn't make a difference especially if they have a reputation for easily grooming defensive lineman with the best line coach in the NFL in Jim washburn. They can keep their lineman fresh with Jason Jones(who is poised to break out and will remind titan fans of kevin carter), jovan haye, tony brown, kevin vickerson, den'sendarrik marks, jacob ford, william hayes, KVB, and other players. Haynesworth only affected them in 2007, but in 2008 they were able to win without him including a total knockout of the superbowl champion steelers where Jason Jones had 3.5 seacks despite always having double teams. This man only started 3 games and played in 13 and had 30 tackles and five sacks. leaving the Dt issue lets get to other parts of this complete team. They have the best offensive line in the league with Michael roos and david steawart as the best left and right tackle respectively. i dnt even need to get into their threatening runing game.also getting kenny britt, nate washington, and jared cook will boost their passng game from a year ago while defenses will think twice about stacking the box to stop their running game. kerry collins has a few years left. on defense they still have the ageless one, Keith Bulluck and dradting darrel mcrath will give them an upgrade at MLB and depth at OLB. The secondary is the best in the league and they can sure commit interceptions. michael griffin and cortalnd finnegan are both rising stars while chris hope is at his peak and the depth here is fantastic. the bottom line is that this team has the things u look for in a championship caliber team which includes Depth, leadership, chemistry, and coaching.
San Diego Chargers-
This team has phillip rivers who is getting better and a running game which can dominate and probably features the beat left offensive line in the league. having the afc's best Te doesn't hurt. also having a 3-4 defense with shawn meeriman, shaun phillips, larry english, jamal williams, and luis castillo is a big PLUS.
Minnesota Vikings
Just a QB away. i think that sage rosenfels is an upgrade over last year's quarterbacks. AP is the biggest offensive gamebreaker in the NFL. This team alos has great run blocking. But the real power comes from the defense. Leslie Frasier is probably the best defensive coordinater in the league now since shawartz and spags are head coaches. How can teams run against a defensive line that has pat and kevin williams with depth behind them. Because these two always attract double teams, Jare allen attracts one blocker and he is the best DE in the game. The vikings can play conservativelly since they have talent on the D line which makes their cover 2 work. They have great tacklers in the secondary with winfield and griffen and tyrell johnson is a potential star. Did i mention that they have percy harvin?
I didn't put the steelers becuase they have the same lineup from last year which isn't a good thing because teams around them just got better. Also they didn't do anything big to improve their offensive line. the patriots are sort of rebuilding on defense which means it can take a year or two and tom brady isn't likely to be 100% this season. The cardinals are going to suffer from superbowl hangover because the seahawks just got better and every superbowl loser goes through this.
losing fat albert doesn't matter!!! you think losinfg a fat guy who won't play hard in a long term contract will hurt a team like the titans who on paper has the best team in the nfl? Haynesworth is just a product of washburn's defensive line. the patriots need atleast a year to get back on track and the steelers did nothing to het younger on defense besides hood and nothing to their O line. The giants already have a dominant defense and running game and ramses barden has the size of burress and nicks has his hands. those are 2 are definely better than what they had at reciever last year!!!
